Antique German Delft Flo Blue Couple & Basket Hand Painted Porcelain Figurine

  

ANTIQUE GERMAN DELFT FLO BLUE COUPLE & BASKET HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN FIGURINE. This is a very charming little porcelain figurine featuring a young couple in traditional Dutch dress standing on either side of a two-handled basket, all on a cobblestone street. The figures and their faces along with the basket are very finely modeled and this is a high-quality piece of porcelain. It is hand painted and decorated in the Holland Delft flo blue style with cobalt blue color and a shiny glaze, but is German made. There is also a hand painted windmill on the side of the basket.

This piece could also fit nicely into a figural toothpick holder collection; the inside depth of the basket is only about 2-1/4. It has been in my personal collection since 1990. It is signed on the obverse side on the base Delft in blue hand painted letters. The underside is stamped in blue Made in Germany and there is an impressed number 2092 there also.

There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines, or repairs.

Anywhere that I tap it with my ring it rings like a bell. I also checked the piece over carefully with a black light and found no evidence of damage or repairs. I will only mention that the piece rocks slightly on a flat surface. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.

Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. The base is about 5.125 (13 cm) left to right and about 2.25 (5.7 cm) front to back and sits about 6.125 (15.6 cm) off the table at the tallest point. About 13.375 ounces (381 grams).
