Stunning enormous vintage Chinese porcelain four-sided octagonal lidded pot with gold elephant handles. The totally hand painted and very interesting pot has hand painted motif in each of the eight sides. The ovals in the centre of the four large sides are painted with a courting scene. They are a Chinese artists interpretation of a slightly raunchy western scene. The surroundings, the shoulders, the neck and the lid are all busily hand painted with chrysanthemums, roses, other floral motif and scroll works. The shape of the pot is interesting. The body has four sides but with a panel in between so it is an interesting octagon. It tapers down to a slimmer bottom that flares out to form an octagonal base. There are four gold elephant formed handles each with a ring under the trunk. The rings are not movable.

The lid is a two tiers octagon filled with different colour floral motif. The top octagon is smaller than the bottom one.

The finial is a moulded gold fu dog. Reign mark of Qing Dynasty Qianlong on the base. Beautiful vintage old signs on the base.

The vase was made in the 1980s. Excellent condition with fantastic hand painted detail. Most of my collection is one of a kind.

I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Each item has a story and when possible, I hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia. Some of the items have travelled a long way away and some of the items has been with me for 65 years.
