Up for your consideration is an exquisite & large French Sevres style urn, mounted as a lamp, c. It is difficult to tell how old the urn is, but the painting style is consistent with what Sevres did in the Art Nouveau period, c. At this time, pastel background colors were used.
The piece is completely hand-painted in full surround with a continuous scene featuring Victorian figures which graduates to a castle/chapeau on the back side. The gilt is done with raised enamels with intertwined floral designs.
The base is gilded bronze, and the upper lamp parts appear to be an unfinished bronze which has tarnished over time. Overall, the lamp measures 28" tall, and the urn portion measures 16.5" tall (including the base).
The urn is 7 wide at its central point. The lamp has been professionally rewired, and both pull chains work properly. However, the cap on the bottom of one chain is missing.
The urn is in superb condition, free of chips, cracks, or scratches. The gold enameling is complete, and shows virtually no wear. The lamp has no finial. The gilt on the base is bright, with an even patina throughout. This quote is for the Continental U. These charges are the buyers responsibility.
