A Worcester feather moulded floral and inverted floral pattern 9 inch diameter punch bowl painted internally with the fisherman and willow pavilion pattern. This Dr Wall, or first period Worcester Porcelain, blue and white hand painted bowl dates from the third quarter of the 18th century, circa 1760. Dr Wall and his partners ran the Worcester Tonquin Manufacture at Warmstry House, Worcester, Worcestershire, England, from the early 1750s until the 1790s. This porcelain item is made from steatitic porcelain containing soaprock from Cornwall and is marked with a crescent in underglaze blue on the back. The bowl is painted on one side with the Inverted floral pattern IE36 page 267, which is classed as rare.

For the feather moulded floral pattern, see pattern IE6 page 229 of Worcester Blue and White Porcelain 1751- 1790 by Branyon, French and Sandon, also border pattern 50 in their book. The central pattern is the uncommmon design of "The Fisherman and Willow Paviilon" pattern and the IB21 page 114 of Worcester Blue and White Porcelain 1751- 1790 by Branyon, French and Sandon. The bowl is in fair antique condition, there are three large pieces where it has been broken and re-glued, some scratching in the inside of the base of the bowl from use, there are two frit marks on the outer face, the painting is a little obscured as it has partially run in the glaze. This is a great item for any collector of English 18th century porcelain, blue and white hand painted ware or 18th century first period Worcester porcelain.
