A wonderful opportunity to own a piece of 16th Century Chinese history! This16th Century, Ming Dynasty (1368 -1644) Chinese blue and white glazed pottery bowl is over 400 years old! This bowl shows beautiful free hand painted underglaze bunches of grapes motifs on the sides and inner base.
There is double stripe around the rim of the base, around the outer edge of the rim and around the inner base. This bowl has acquired a warm satin patina as a result of its great age. In good solid overall condition given that it is over 400 years old! There are hairline cracks and crazing inside and outside the bowl.
There are 2 chips to the rim. There are many small chips to the rim of the underside.
The bowl has some pin holes in the glaze from the original firing process. There is a raised nodule of pottery on the outside of the bowl. The inner base has more of a textured finish from use. Diameter - 13 cm or 5.11 inches.
Height - 7 cm or 2.75 inches. 271 grams or 0.59 pounds. Rest of the World - 95 to120.
