18th CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE ARMORIAL PORCELAIN SAUCE or GRAVY BOAT'CUNNINGHAM

  

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS. This is a Chinese export famille verte sauce or gravy boat made in China in around 1760 or so. The armorial shows a gilded unicorn on top of a knight's armour. This would have been part of a special order (Chine de Commande) and part of a huge dinner service, made for a member of the Cunningham or Cuninghame family of Craigends as it bears their coat of arms with the motto'So Fork Forward'.

Very Good condition - the surface is good, there is a tiny hairline which I think is from firing about 1.5cm long from the rim and 2 small rim frits, slight loss of glaze to the handle, the gilding and enamelling are bright, there is minimal wear to the gilded rim. It measures 8.5 inches long by 4.25 inches across and 3 inches high (22cm x 11cm). S ee our other Chinese export items. Get images that make Supersized seem small.
