This is a good early 19th century Cantonese porcelain bowl in super condition dating from the Daoguang period. The Daoguang Emperor, born Mianning, was the seventh Emperor of the Qing dynasty and the sixth Qing emperor to rule over China proper, reigning from 1820 to 1850. This bowl is a good example from that period in quality hard paste porcelain with enamel glaze and is beautifully hand decorated with a stunning millefiori design in the typical famille rose palette.
The inner bowl has a beautiful floral painting with a colourful pheasant in a bower eating fruit from a tree with chrysanthemum blooms and peonies. The rim of the bowl is beautifully decorated in bold enamels with a stunning floral border and the outside of the bowl is equally decorated with butterflies, fans, scrolls and flowers. This is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration and measures 21 cms in diameter by 6 cms high.Open Saturday 11am till 4pm or by appointment.
