A Derby Bloor Period Antique Hand Painted Porcelain Basket by Richard Dodson

  
An early 19th Century Derby Bloor period porcelain basket. This lovely example has a large central reserve hand painted with birds. The work is certainly by Richard Dodson and is very much in his style and attractively done as you can see in the images. The basket features extensive and elaborate gilt work over a white and mazarine blue ground. It is also gilded to the underside. It has the red Bloor Derby thumb transfer mark to the underside which dates it around 1820 to the late Georgian period.

A very showy piece which would make a great feature. It has a hairline running from the left side of the painted reserve outwards stopping short of the rim. This is shown on both the topside and underside for you and as you can see does not really affect the display.

There are two hairlines through one of the handles. The body has fine all over crazing quite typical of Derby for this period. There are a couple of very small chips to the foot rim which are from production and over glazed.
