Superb Hand Painted Aesthetic Movement Charger / Plaque. The Plate depicts a parrot perched amongst Bamboo branches very much in the Japanese style but almost certainly an English "Aesthetic Movement" dish.
The plaque /charger has been heavily gilded in Gold Gilding carved to create the patterns of the bird. As it is gilded in actual gold it changes colour depending on the light. I have tried to show this in my photos. As yet, I have not been able to track down the maker or the Artist(s) however from the exceptional quality this was a highly talented and skilled Artist /Factory production. As soon as I do I will add this to the listing.
This is an important dish of a very short lived yet outstanding period of the evolution of Art and Design in the late19th Century that paved the way for the Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveaux and Art Deco movements. Dimensions: Dish Diameter 33cm (13 inches). We have a special collection of fine pieces of Aesthetic movement pieces, something I have collected for some time, which includes important pieces of furniture from both France and the UK including pieces by Gabriel Viadot and the Nancy Furniture Studio of Galle.
