This bowl features the Scholar on Bridge pattern, is circa 1750 and measures 7-7/16"(18.8cm) in diameter with a height of 3-7/16"(8.7cm). The base diameter is 3-9/16(9cm) and total weight is 491 grams.
Visible under a jeweller's loup there is a very tiny hairline crack on the rim, as noted in the last photo above. The Nanking Cargo was on board the Geldemalsen, a Dutch East India Trading Company cargo vessel that struck a reef and sank in Indonesia on 3 January 1752. The majority of the cargo was comprised of tea, but additionally there were ceramic pieces and gold ingots. The wreck was discovered by the British salvage operator, Michael Hatcher in 1986.
