The dial is decorated to the centre with a hand painted floral garland. Two finely hand painted miniature paintings depicting flowers flank each side of the clocks body whilst a further three hand painted panels are inlaid within the clocks bronze base; the central panel with a cherub in flight whilst the side panels are decorated with floral garlands, each set against pink grounds.
The drum case is surmounted by twin handled finial decorated with a hand painted medallion with a portrait of Marie Antoinette. The whole is raised on rectangular feet. The eight day twin train mechanical movement strikes the hours and half on a bell and is regulated by a countwheel. The clock comes complete with bell, winding key and pendulum. The mechanism is stamped by one of the most important and awarded 19th century clock makers, Japy Fils, winning a medal in 1855 for that particular model of mechanism.
