DESCRIPTION : Here is a good quality mid to late 19th century Copeland porcelain low comport. Hand decorated to the center with raised gilt initials A O V (which reads the same turned upside down) and has small enamelled roses in the initials and is set within an oval of pink enamelled roses (not flat painted). It has a cobalt blue ground border with four gilt scrolled frames with swags of enamelled pink roses and green leaves. There are four square shaped cartouches with a double gilt cross hatched and dotted pattern and having a relief moulded frame of pale yellow and gilt leaves.
At each end it has a pieced handle with gilt decoration. The low comport stands on an oval cobalt ground foot with relief white and gilt scrolls. To the underside border it has a gilt line band and a gilt arched and dot pattern.
Marked to the base with a green interlaced C's over Copeland and a rep painted pattern number D 3027- This would have been a special commission and would have been expensive to produce. Dates between 1851 to 1885. SIZE : The low comport measures 11 1/2 inches long by 8 3/4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches at highest point.
Weighs 776 g before packing. CONDITION : This low comport is in excellent condition.
