This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in France by a Limoges decorating firm in the 1890s. There are hand painted letters J. The porcelain blank marking is gilded over. The saucer is 5 inches in diameter and 7/8 of an inch deep. The cup is 2 1/4 inches high with a diameter of 2 1/8 inches.
The cup is quatrafoil shaped on top and blown out and puffy on the bottom. It has a fancy, rococo style handle. The ground color is cobalt blue. Elaborately hand gilded with two colored raised gold. The front of the cup has a hand painted scene of cupid with his quiver of arrows, stalking in the woods. There is a reserve on the saucer with a bow and quiver of arrows. The painting is done with fine detail and soft colors. The set is very similar to some done at Sevres. It is exquisite and rare. FOR OUR CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE US.The Post Office requires this.
