ANTIQUE MINTON HOLLINS HAND PAINTED ARTIST SIGNED STORY PICTURE WHIMSICAL TILE. The blue on white, porcelain faience tile is hand painted with an image of a startled young boy, hat flying in the air, hair standing straight up and carrying a shot gun.

He is looking up into a tree where a mother owl is perched with her 4 babies. The caption below reads No mam! I did not come here to shoot birds!! This unique, more than likely 1 of a kind piece, is artist signed lower right with 3 stacked letters that look like a large S and smaller F, D. I assume S is the last name and FD or DF is for the first & middle. Back is marked Minton Hollins & Co Patent Tile Works Stoke on Trent No. I was unable to find another tile quite like this one.

CONDITION - The tile in nice, antique, pre-owned condition! Shows normal age/use surface wear with overall scratches which I have tried to show, roughness and glaze chips along edges - as with all of my estate items, I have not cleaned it. Please see photos as part of condition. SIZE - It measures approximately 6" square, 3/8" thick.
