Antique Porcelain Snuff Box Serpentine Shape Signed Hand Painted Watteau Lovers

  
A antique serpentine shaped Porcelain Snuff Box, with hand painted decoration and thickly applied gilt on a green ground. Its gilt brass mounted, hinged cover is decorated with a beautiful hand painted Wattaeu scene, showing two lovers seated in a landscape setting - It is signed P ROCHE. It has a further landscape scene at its front and beautiful hand painted floral sprays to all surfaces of its interior. Its domed cover snaps shut with a satisfying sound and is held closed with a clam shell shaped catch.

It measures 3 5/8" or 92 mm wide x 2 1/2" or 64 mm deep x 1 7/8 or 48 mm high. It dates to 18th century is in good condition for its age, with no damage to the porcelain and expected wear to the gilding of its brass mounts.
