Antique Sevres Ormolu Bronze Hand Painted Porcelain Lamp. Up for sale is the ormolu bronze mounted French Sevres porcelain lamp, dated early 20. The famous French Sevres porcelain factory was first established in 1738 at the Chateau de Vincennes to produce its hand painted and heavily gilded table wares.
The factory was relocated in 1756 to Sevres, outskirts of Paris near Versailles, for larger production facilities. The electric table lamp features a baluster form for the porcelain body with twin gilt flowery handles. The neck and lower stem parts are in burgundy color decorated with gold gilt floral motifs.
Signed by the artist Domval, the porcelain is hand painted with a woman accompanied by flowers and an angel on the front and the wreath floral on the back with heavy gold gilt decoration. The edges of the base under the stem part is also carved with floral motifs.
The head of the lamp is with two Leviton sockets pressed with 660 W and 250 V. Measures: Dimensions, 26 high x 5 wide (across widest parts) x base 4 1/4 square; Weight, over 4.4 lbs (about 2 kg). Condition: Very good, without chips, cracks or any damages; very light wear to. Gilding at high points, consistent with age and use.
