FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Up for your consideration is a very fine p. Air of late 19th C. Each of handled baluster form with male mask handles, painted with a continuous band depicting Cupid and various female figures in a landscape, signed C. Forster, against a cobalt ground with gilt highlights, raised on a stepped square base with a beehive mark in underglaze blue to the underside. The vases are completely hand-painted, and decorated on both sides with four different paintings of Neo-classical figures. Overall, the vases are in excellent condition, with one notable restoration. One one the handles apparently broke off, and was restored. The gilt is duller than the rest of the piece, and there is some loss to the gilt below the restoration, revealing the white porcelain below.
Otherwise, these are in pristine condition, without chips, cracks, or other restorations. The gilt is exceptionally bright and intact. The raised enamels show virtually no wear.
