Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque

  

This beautifully detailed hand painted porcelain plaque is a portrait of a woman. The frame measures 10 5/8 inches by 8 7/8 inches. The visible part of the plaque measures 6 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inches.

The porcelain is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or signs of repair, however, it is lose in the frame and slides around a little. The wooden frame has many cracks, a large chip and has pieces broken off at the top. Please see the pictures for a full description. This is Duchess Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (Luise Auguste Wilhelmine Amalie; 10 March 1776 19 July 1810) was Queen consort of Prussia as the wife of King Frederick William III. This portrait of Queen Louise is modelled after the a painting by Gustav Richter, painted in 1879 and held by the Cologne Museum.
