Hand Painted Sevres Style Louis XVI Form Potpourri Vase

  

Offering a particularly charming Sevres style potpourri vase with extensive gilt bronze mounts, ca. This beautiful vase is modeled in a large reverse gourd shape with a creme ground on all exposed surfaces. The ground is painted with an image of a reclining maiden in flowing robes and accompanied by flying putti carrying all the necessary flower garlands such a fine maiden would possibly be needing! On the reverse are more rose garlands and a large wicker basket to carry all the blossoms.

This lovely vase stands 12 1/2" and is 7" handle to handle. It is flanked on either side with wonderful gilt bronze satyr mask handles. The removal lid opens to the shallow gilt liner for the potpourri; the interior of the lid is marked with a Sevres style monogram.
