Herend Handpainted Porcelain Blue Garland Coffee Tea Pot Sugar & Creamer. This design of a garland of bright blue cornflowers was introduced in 1890 by Jeno Farkashazy, grandson of the founder of Herend. The origins of the motif itself go back to the 18th century French porcelain manufacturers where it was said to be a favorite of Marie-Antoinette. Since he spent his youth being educated in France, it was there that the young Farkashasy was first exposed to and then charmed by this sweet pattern.
The signature Herend figural pink roses on the lids of the sugar bowl and coffee pot are exquisitely formed. Coffee Pot 10 1/4 high.
Sugar Bowl 4" high x 5 1/2" wide x 3 3/4 in depth. Cream Pitcher 3 3/4 high. Marked on the underside with the Herend Hungary maker's mark. Condition is very, very good.
