James Hadleys Worcester Hand Painted Rose Comport Tazza Stand Antique 1902-5

  
A decorative tazza or comport stand produced by Hadleys with softly painted rose decoration. It also has the retailers mark - James Green & Nephew, London they were exporters. James Hadley porcelain wares had a distinctive clay mouldings in either dark green (as this is) or alternatively in dark blue or brown. Distinctive softly painted flowers were used to decorate these porcelain wares. Hadley was previously a renowned decorator for Royal Worcester.

This has the later backstamp with the banner under Hadleys containing Worcester England (Goddens 1873). Royal Worcester had taken Locke & co and James Hadley to court to try and stop them using the word Worcester in their titles. Hence the use of the banner with Worcester England as this is where these items were made and it was no longer in the title.

The ones made at Royal Worcester would have Hadley Ware added. Diameter 23cm / 9 inches. Height 7cm / just short of 3 inches.

Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. It looks unused with no surface scratches. It has a lovely ring when gently tapped. Rest assured that it will be carefully packed to ensure that it arrives with you safely.
