Rare Chinese famille rose porcelain cups with butterfly patterns, 18th-19th C

  
Dimensions: H: 7cm (2.8") L: 8.5cm (3.3"). This pair of famille rose porcelain cups features exquisite butterfly motifs, a beloved symbol of joy and transformation in Chinese culture. The butterflies, painted in vibrant hues of orange, yellow, blue, and green, are outlined with fine black brushwork and arranged in dynamic, open-winged poses. An orange band encircles the rims, adorned with a repeating butterfly motif. The cups are finished with small, rounded white handles and plain interiors, with the rim borders echoing the butterfly decoration. The unglazed foot rims show typical firing imperfections and traces of green pigment residue. Slight enamel loss on some butterflies and wear along the rims are visible, alongside a small chip on the larger cup's rim, all consistent with their age and use.
