Rare Cmielow vintage mid-century ceramic art vase, made in Poland. A stunning masterpiece and an opportunity to own this superior item. Cmielow are the oldest pottery company in Poland.

Established in Cmielow in 1790. Production of porcelain started in 1838. The earlier ones before that were simpler varieties, often decorated with scenes from history, mythology, the bible, and famous people. Famous designers working for Cmielow were Bogdan Wendorf, Wincenty Potacki, Jozef Szewczyk, Mieczyslaw Naruszewicz and Lubomir Tomaszewski to name but a few. In the 1950's - 1960's more modern designs were called'new look decorative'.

This vase is striking, dramatic, and simply beautiful, in a simple abstract black and white design typical for the period. It is freeform in design with dots, dashes and lines down the sides, creating a dazzling effect. Condition - there is a small nick to the base rim, please see the image. This is not noticeable to me when the vase is standing. It will be very well packaged.
