These are used antique items. With one plate having a hairline crack and one plate having an underglaze smudge. There will be marks on the top surface from cutlery and raised base rims underneath from use and being placed on various surfaces over the years.
A fabulous set of very rare plates and comports. Printed transfers with detailed hand paining. A few other examples of plates (not Comports) found on line and patterns match pretty well. The pictures are adapted from La Fontaine's Fables book 1668 - 1694. These patterns or very similar may have been also issued as a set of tiles.
All plates measure 9 or 23cm diameter. Comports vary in height 5 inches 13 cm and 3.25 inches 8 cm. All have hand written titles to the reverse, but please note the two large comports have the wrong titles. The bases look to have been switched on assembly.
2 Large Comports with decorated stands. These have been attached with the standard method of the time, after firing and glazing. There is some crazing on the stands. 3 Smaller Comports with decoration just to the circular foot. 12 Plates any faults noted above.
