Rare Diana Cargo Suite of Four Buddhistic Lion Toys, 1817. A rare suite of four glazed buddhistic lion toys. Comprises a pair of parent lions and a pair of young cubs, each piece under a straw coloured glaze with dark brown and green spots. The parent lions are 9cm long and the cubs 6cm. There are numerous small chips / area of loss to the glaze.

Unfortunately The Diana was on one of these voyages on 4th March 1817 when she hit some rocks off the Straits of Malacca and sank. The wreck was identified and recovered in 1994 by Dorian Ball of Malaysian Historical Salvors.
